Goodnight

I've been a bit of a slacker on the blog front. There is a lot I want to say, particularly about the meltdown in the financial markets. A friend of mine who works for one of the affected banks sent me this note:

"It's been very interesting, but a lot of people hurting: having to move out of their homes, upsticks with children and leave the country (sponsored visas), lose their lifetimes worth of company stock that was going to be their retirement etc. ....."

Things are obviously tough. Who knows what will happen next. It would be good to pray about it. I also ask if people could pray for me. I have a job interview tomorrow afternoon for an awesome role. In the meantime here is a poem I wrote recently ....

Goodnight

It's night time now
and I can see shadows
swirling through
the concrete walls
everywhere.
I can feel my toes
against the sheets
and the blanket
on my chest
and the cool night air
creeping through
the open window
by my head.
I can hear a truck
changing gears
down the road
maybe the driver
is listening
to the late show
on Capital Radio
and thinking
about his girlfriend
and his little boy
back home.
I can hear you
sleeping
next to me
and realise
there is
nowhere else
I'd rather be.
That's how
lucky
I am.
Hi Tuberider. Must be weird to be observing the financial meltdown now you're out of the Big Smoke. These are uncertain times, that's for sure.

I broke my rule of not meeting artists I love and saw Tibor Fischer the other day for a book reading. He was less than inspirational in the flesh.

Hope the interview goes really well.
How was the job interview? What is the position?

I like the poem.
hi jaffacake, I met the Christian fantasy/ science fiction author Stephen Lawhead when I was at Schloss Mittersill once. He is super cool and helped me do the dishes one evening. I've put up a photo of him & I on the right.

hi jennifer I made it to the second round so I take it went well. Please keep praying. The position is with a venture capital company.

Will pray. Let us know how it goes.
booo. I didn't get it :(
