It’s over.
Tonight I fly out to Cape Town bringing an end to 10 years of London living. It seems to be an opportune moment for some introspection, but I’m not given to nostalgic sentimentality or a 10 point plan on how to succeed in a foreign country, so I’m not sure what to say other than I will miss this place. I will miss my friends, and the pubs, and the churches, and the nightlife, and the office cleaner from Uzbekistan. I will miss the diversity. I’m sure in time, I will even miss the tube. I’ve been around and I can confidently say I’m moving to one of the world’s most beautiful cities. Everyone from AL ought to come and visit and I’d be happy to show you around. I take the biblical endorsement of practice hospitality very seriously and I am, if I may say so, a fantastic host. In the beginning, I’m going to be staying at my Mom’s place in Fish Hoek while I look for something closer to town. My internet access is going to be pretty sporadic over the next few weeks as I organise my new life, but know that I’ll be back soon. My bags are packed and I’m ready to go. Citizens of London, I salute you. tuberider's blog | report this page | 234 reads
