I've never been much for guidebooks, so when trying to get my bearings in a strange American city, I normally start by asking the cab driver or hotel clerk some silly question regarding the latest census figures. I say silly because I don't really care how many people live in Olympia, Washington, or Columbus, Ohio. They're nice enough places, but the numbers mean nothing to me. My second question might have to do with average annual rainfall, which, again, doesn't tell me anything about the people who have chosen to call this place home.

Ghandi wrote this and it beams around a building next to our campus, along with various other mystical things said by mystical and intelligent or mystically intelligent people. I read it everytime I go to lunch.

It's very pithy, but essentially wrong. It's all well and good in working hard and gaining satisfaction from the work, but surely if it all goes tits up at the end, a good deal of wailing and mourning is needed if we are to grow?

Alarm Clock

It seems silly incomparison to amazing miraculous healings, but still: to Him be the glory!

I picked up my phone last night, which is my alarm clock and put it next to my bed, although unbeknown to me at that point - I'd forgot to set the alarm for 6.30am.

Given that I have normally been waking up around mid to late mornings having been on holiday for the last three weeks, the chances of me getting up at this time were pretty slim.

And so today marks the end of my three week holiday - man, it was good :)

There's lots to write, but all I really wanted to say was Hi to Kris and was great to meet you, despite the 11th plague of killer bees attacking us over a donut. Really enjoyed listening to your tunes when I could make it down and us both knowing immediately who each other were in a crowd!

It was my first time at New Wine, which is what the rest of the Evangelical Anglican community do when they're not at Home Focus. God was there and I had a really relaxing week, catching up with friends and sleep. I also ate about 3kgs of biscuits/cakes and at least 27 cups of tea. A day.

The ritual killing of helpless children is currently allowed by the Brazilian government out of concern for the traditional customs of the tribes. The music from Casablanca is playing out from a female pianist, as the commuters dart around her, waving at family members, reserving seats, grabbing takeaway foods. Laptops line the benches as geeks like me sit and upload their lives onto the Internet, whilst slurping on a Sam Adams before catching a plane home. Already my bodyclock is disengaging from this timezone and onto the next. My laptop tells me it's 4.30, but it should read about 10.30pm, 'cos that's where I'm headed.
