On a Sunday morning or evening when we are playing in a Worship Service – we need to be thinking about the overall sound we are creating. Each member of the Band plays a key part in generating that overall sound.

So 2009... What will it hold for us all ?
I hope that we all grow in skill, knowledge and closer to those we love, as well as deeper in our faith and have opportunities to share it with others.
To everyone who has been involved in the Worship Team this year, I would like to say a Massive Thank you for all the Time and Effort you have put into to making the Bands and Musical side of the Worship at St Andrews what it is. It is enjoyed and appreciated by so many people on a weekly basis.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year... O come let us adore Him... Walking in a Winter Wonderland... Glory to the new born King... Santa Claus is coming to town...
Some people wonder why we have 2 or 3 singers in the Worship Bands – when we have a whole congregation singing the songs.
A main reason is to provide a harmony line or extra vocals that complement and enhance the overall sound. A backing singer should strive to gain experience in harmonising and keeping in time with both the lead vocalist and other fellow band members.
I am a missionary. Not unexpectedly this colours how I view the world around me. I have spent a significant part of my life training and working towards mission work. So when I first read John Pipers quote about mission and worship I was a bit stunned. Here’s the quote:
