Welcome back!

I would just like to take this opportunity to celebrate the fact that Australia are once again in possession of the smallest, major sporting trophy in the world – the Ashes.

Although I’m not a major Shane Warne fan, I have to admit the guy is talented – and to win back the Ashes bowling out Monty Panesar – and gaining his 699th Test wicket in the process – well that’s just kind of cool.

Last year I put up with ribbing, mockery and general derision from all my English workmates, friends – and the homeless man sitting outside Sainsbury’s – because we lost the Ashes for the first time in 18 years (and kudos to England – they deserved the victory).  So to everyone who mocked, to everyone who called our team this year Dad’s Army (okay they’re on the old side – but they’ve still got it) – I’d just like to remind you that the Ashes are now back with their rightful owners ;)

Well we might have won the series – but there’s still two tests to go – and I’m not counting out England yet!  I’m really looking forward to the next two matches – and I just hope we get a couple of epic battles!  Aussie, Aussie, Aussie...

can i just say - mmmmm Flintoff! i thank you for allowing my 'girls comment' . . .
It's so true though - as girls we can appreciate both the excellent level of sport - and the fine players too!  I don't understand why guys aren't into women's beach volleyball or women's tennis a little more...
Go Aussies!

I do have few friends and family who do not approve of my supporting the boys from Down Under but I think they are great and definitely prefer them to the rather arrogant English team.

Glad the Ashes is back where it belongs!
Hey Shelley - Matt Hayden is my second favourite - Symonds is my favourite. You should see the papers and everything over here - there is a buzz that you can just "feel". SOOOO glad we won!!! YEAH!
Hey Flick! Wish I could be there to see it!  BTW Andrew's my second fav - gee we're patriotic, supporting the Queenslanders, but they're just both absolute legends!  I spent yesterday wearing my Australian flag around work and then South Kensington in general, and managed to get booed, had people try to steal my flag and just managed to rescue it from a toilet flushing by an irate Englishman!!!  I'm just so proud of our team!
