I don’t want to rub it in, I don’t want to start any fights, but please just allow me the courtesy of celebrating the amazing effort from MY cricket team to win the Ashes in a whitewash for the first time in 86 years.
It was such a fitting end to the careers of Warne, McGrath and Langer (and may have been for Martyn too – if he’d stayed around ;)
McGrath and Warne are two of the three top wicket takers in Test history – so their retirement really is a loss to international cricket (though maybe isn’t so sad for English cricket fans).

I loved what Ricky Ponting said after the match - "It wasn't so much about the 5-0, it was more about the occasion with the guys finishing. Even when we took the last wicket, to think that would be the last time we'd be walking off the ground with Glenn and Shane was strange. I was actually hoping to get the chance to bat with Justin today and I was a bit filthy with Matty (Hayden) for not getting out."
How sweet - though I'm really glad Langer and Hayden finished together - it's much more fitting!

Now I for one have really enjoyed this series – just like I loved the series last year (even though we lost it was still amazing cricket). The definite highlights this series for me were day 5 of the Adelaide Test; and Hayden & Symonds’ partnership in the 1st innings of the 4th test (my two favourite players, over 150 runs each, what more could a girl want?)
I think we’re all hoping for a real battle in 2009 – and I can’t wait!
