I joined Facebook this week (about two and a half years after most people - I'm so ahead of the times!) I visited my 22nd country – Sweden - just over a week ago and managed to spend a couple of nights in jail, jumped into a freezing river and stood on a beach while it was snowing (completing number 27 on my list of 30 Things to Do Before 30) - overall a successful few days! 

I don’t want to rub it in, I don’t want to start any fights, but please just allow me the courtesy of celebrating the amazing effort from MY cricket team to win the Ashes in a whitewash for the first time in 86 years.

It was such a fitting end to the careers of Warne, McGrath and Langer (and may have been for Martyn too – if he’d stayed around ;)

It takes next to no time or brain cells... and I'm kind of lacking both this afternoon.

I would just like to take this opportunity to celebrate the fact that Australia are once again in possession of the smallest, major sporting trophy in the world – the Ashes.

Although I’m not a major Shane Warne fan, I have to admit the guy is talented – and to win back the Ashes bowling out Monty Panesar – and gaining his 699th Test wicket in the process – well that’s just kind of cool.

I was catching a packed tube home last night, after a lovely night out with my housemate Nic, when we started a discussion on the deep, philosophical issue of hair colour.  My question - if you're a blonde, interested in a guy who's had a history with brunettes, do you even stand a chance? 

It's been over a month and a half since I last blogged.  During this time I have been putting both my social life and my work above my blog - and have both neglected my own blog and that of my friends.  Even as I confess now I know that my behaviour will not change.  After a brief reprieve tonight - I'm going to go straight back to working like a maniac and spending any of my precious spare time with my friends rather than at a computer.  However there is light at the end of the tunnel - there will come a day - the 24th of November to be precise - when my conference will be over and I will regain control of my life.  At this time I will once again join the world of the living - and be able to add sarcastic and completely useless comments to the blogs of those near and dear to me.  Until this time I will live in the shame of my actions.  For thine is the Kingdom, the power and the glory, forever and ever.

It's my birthday today!  Yeeha!  Looking forward to the best year of my life...
