a few wedding pics

a few wedding picsI do have the most beautiful niece in the world - she nearly upstaged the bride!

Had a lot of fun and am now in recovery mode from being 'the wedding planner'.

suggest a song - please!

My sister gets married in 3 weeks time. We're looking for 1 or 2 worship songs to sing. The difficulty is that more than 50% of the congregation are not christians and therefore we need 'first night of alpha' sort of songs. That is, non threatening, easy to sing and learn, about God rather than to God.

Thirteenth Station

For ye shall be as an oak whose leaf fadeth, and as a garden that hath no water. Isaiah 1:30

For one split second everything
holds its breath. The heavens
darken, clouds are torn asunder,

no-body smiles.
It is the end, as they say,
of a very unfortunate episode.

Then the world resumes its busyness.

His friends arrive. They weep,

push comes to shove

The moment you wake up each morning, all your wishes and hopes for the day rush at you like wild animals. And the first job each morning consists in shoving it all back; in listening to that other voice, taking that other point of view, letting that other, larger, stronger, quieter life coming flowing in.

We take our homeland with us, however we change our sky

This one is for you, Kat and all those other ex-pat Kiwis out there.

creativity - a thought

Our God is a CREATIVE God. He likes things that are fresh, new and exciting. Perhaps Paul reflected a facet of God's character when he stated that he didn't wish to 'build on anyone else's foundations'.  When I stop striving for difference and settle for the present, then I get dull. Uninteresting, and definitely not a great reflection of the most unique being in the universe.

There is a necessity for some things to be repeated ad infinitum, but not often. And if they must be repeated - can they not be improved on?

Planning a wedding?

Who else out there is getting married or planning a wedding at the moment?

I'm in the throes of organising my sister's wedding. She got engaged 4 weeks ago and will be married in a few months time. I love doing it, really. So far Debs has a wedding dress, so she won't be getting married naked! But not much else is arranged.

two degrees of separation

Today I went to a baby dedication. I was bridesmaid for the babies mother 6 years ago. Whilst at the service I saw a guy who looked familiar. We talked, and figured out that he'd been best man and I'd been bridesmaid at another, completely unrelated, wedding.
