Late Tuesday Lunch

Here I am, sitting my office at sometime gone 3:30 in the afternoon, eating my lunch.  It just happened that way, I guess.  By the time I had done everything I intended to do immediately after I arrived, schools are probably just clocking off.

News of note: I have begun the process of exam entry for my PhD.  My supervisor has approached the potential examiners he is considering and they have both agreed.  I have met them both at various stages in my degree when they have given talks.  One of them examined the thesis of one of supervisor's students last year.  I have the task of collating into one document the several files that I have written.  This should be a bit of a copy and paste job, but I then have to make the whole thing read like a coherent work, which it certainly doesn't at the moment.  I did get as far as printing everything out today and it was sufficiently fat that a standard staple had trouble going through it.  But, as my supervisor said, it is "too rough" at the moment to properly read and comment on.

On the social side of things, I met jennifer, another Aboutlifer, yesterday in the pub.  Vics was also there, plus one or two others, so we could have had a mini Aboutlife social, even though that wasn't the purpose of the event.  This was goodbye drinks for a friend who is leaving the country for several months.  I decided to follow the recommendation of Vics and hubby by having the burger with fries, rather than the sausage and mash, which another friend had.  I certainly enjoyed it, although Vics and hubby managed to get cold fries the first time.

I have been spending far too long in this office recently.  Last week on Monday Thursday and Friday I was here until 9ish.  Tuesday was home group and Wednesday I spend the afternoon in seminars elsewhere so go straight home afterwards.  If/when I get my PhD, it will hopefully all seem worthwhile.

Anyway, my lunchbreak must be over so I had better get some work done before pastorate.
