July Update

It's been a while since I blogged.  The weather seems to think it is summer now, although with the British summer you generally get two hot days followed by rain.  The current BBC forecast for the next two days is for rain.  It is a good thing I haven't put my umbrella away.

Things are proceeding slowly with my thesis.  I have received detailed comments on the most recent draft.  I now have to wade through them and do a lot of restructuring and rewriting.  Basically I waffle far too much and need to be more precise.  There is certainly enough to keep me busy over the next couple of months while my supervisor is away.  Hopefully by the beginning of September I will have an almost final draft for him to go through and then I will be able to submit.

The next Men's Breakfast is on Saturday 12 July, 9:30am to 12:30pm in HTB church house.  The speaker is Jonathan Aitken.  The Men's ministry now has a page on the HTB website, see here, giving the dates for future Men's Breakfasts plus recordings of the talks from previous breakfasts.  I highly recommend them, even if 9:30 is too early for some men on a Saturday.  The title is "Alpha Males Facing the Fear of Failure; A Journey of Frankness, Friendship and Faith."

I know it clashes with Worship Central.  It actually seems like almost everything that could happen on that day is happening.  Apart from the breakfast and worship central, I have at least three other events I could be at.  Somebody will have to perfect cloning technology in the next week and a half so I can go everywhere I want to go.

I'm off to the last pastorate before the summer.  We have been doing a series on the parables this term.  Even though we have all heard these stories so many times before, it is refreshing to hear them again.
