If I must leave a legacy
What kind of thing do I foresee
Would benefit those left behind
And help them be more Christ-inclined?
Money? Worldly goods and such?
Don’t think that these would help too much
A tough exterior? Dear o dear
That won’t bring heaven close I fear
Patience…I must learn to show
In equal measure as I go
To friend and foe alike that they
Might be encouraged on their way
Kindness…so that in God’s time
They can be used along this line
Touched by grace when this is done
They’ll give the glory to God’s Son
Forgiveness…I’ll pass on and see
This Spirit-fruit grow rapidly
I’ll share it unconditionally
Just as this gift was shared with me
Christ-likeness…The perfect one
This golden gift can’t be outdone
Although with Christ I know I’ll be
I’ll leave a living legacy
