so, i got on this train yesterday and ...

decided to sit down in front of this guy with long legs who was obviously incensed that he had to move them in order for me to shuffle past and sit down. we exchanged brief eye contact while i whispered thank you and his eyes flew daggers.

So, I'm reading my book and becoming happily engrossed in my own little world.

UNTIL I look up, take stock of the real world and notice the man isn't there anymore (wooohoo! space aaaaaaaaall to myself) but his laptop is!!!!!

:-o shonks!!!

... but it was all okay, he was still waiting at the doors to jump off the train and I caught his attention just in time for him to retrieve his valuable possession, thank you god.

the man smiled and said thank you :-)

so i got back to my book and my world which was lovely jubbly and chugging along nicely, until ... i was rudely interrupted by some fella PLONKING himself down a couple of seats next to me and I had to move my bag from between us (so as not to hog all the space). and really, what is with the plonking people?!! gently sitting down would save me from having to step out of my happy dream land thank you very much!

he looked at me oddly and i threw him daggers.

then i got to the doors for my stop only for this fella to kindly grab my attention and point out i'd left my favourite scarf behind ....

:-)

hmmmmmm

now, ray ... i hope you remember this next time!!

Oooh, was one of those men gonzo dressed as a Mexican?  Cool!  I hope those chickens didn't cause too much fuss on the train.

That's a great story, Ray.

As a tall man with long legs, I have noticed the leg space on public transport get smaller and smaller over the years.
When I was on the train yesterday two kids came to sit opposite me. When the ticket-person came round they pretended to be asleep. I 'casually shifted my legs' and kicked one of them who promptly 'woke up' and swore. Ha!!
Maybe whoever was in the seat before you left something which laptop man pointed out to them and maybe the fella nearly left something behind which was pointed out to him by whoever was in the seat after you?  It could have been a really long chain of people pointing out forgotten items and then forgetting something themselves...

I usually try to tuck my legs under the seat (doesn't work on the tube but I'm lucky to get a seat) and I try to avoid stretching them out such that someone will fall over them.  Maybe I am not quite as tall with not quite such long legs as some.

Depending on how far the kids were going, they might have "overslept" their intended destination!
i love it!!
