I was hugely blessed today. About 2 weeks ago, my great friend and colleague Stephanie Fong invited me to sing at her wedding. I have been going to my freinds weddings now for about 5 years, and in that time have been to about 20 weddings. I realise from this time, that it is a huge honour for someone to be asked to sing at a wedding. Generally, as far as I can see it is an honour reserved for a close and skilled family member or musically learned friend; e.g. the likes of Jenn Potter or Caroline Bridges (those who know them, will equally know what I mean). So it was with huge honour that I agreed to do it, aspiring to be Hong Kong's version of these two great singers if you like.
I had to learn two new songs, Unreserved love and Unity Song. Unity Song was in Putonhua (Mandarin for the uneducated - spoken in mainland China), which I managed to pull off without any mistakes; (only by the grace of God, when I relised I was leading!) Unreserved love, was a great song - it had some kick at the end - a real chance to belt it out.
Stephanie and Village - her husband - both had a lovely time and I am so glad that I didn't effect that at all - Thank God! and indeed them for inviting me to do this.
Maybe i won't be invited back, but I am happy and honoured to have been invited at all, so that is enough. Thank you Steph and Village - you are both so kind, gracious and loving - Hong Kong would not have been easy of fun without you - especially you Steph.
