....and for some time my big brother has been!
This isn't a cheap shot at promoting my brother's band; but I honestly want to share with you all how amazing this is.
Granted, their music might not be your 'cup of tea' (!) but i believe that what Bromhead's Jacket have already achieved is something major in the Kingdom of God.
6 years ago, 3 Christian sheffield students decided to form a band, their vision being to reach all of their mates with the message that Jesus Saves. Over time, the more they bashed, and moshed, and crashed and burned, they learnt that to appeal to the most popular genre of music at this time (punk rock) they had to write, and play, about REAL LIFE.
Tim Hampton writes stories about silly misadventures, what could have been, girls before his wifey came along, and common practice among twenty somethings. The message underlying all of it (perhaps minus their cover of The Streets single 'When You Wasn't Famous', although i like to imagine that being classed as 'evangelism'!) is that life is tough, the road is rocky, but you dont have to go it alone...there is another way.

Being "the light in darkness", I think, summarises this band's purpose quite aptly. They are all married men (sorry ladies), really actually quite 'old' in comparison to their counterparts (namely a band i'm not allowed to mention who shot straight to fame from Sheffield!), yet they are 'ROCKIN' it up almost every night in various nooks and crannies of the nation in order to bring a message of truth to the world. I'm not sure they would appreciate my wording, as it's not very 'rock n roll', however the gist is that they witness in being THEMSELVES - ROCK N ROLL.
"I dont want to leave them at all, i like these guys and their sense of fun..." wrote the journalist from ArtRocker magazine, that featured a two double paged spread on the band recently.
I've known these boys for 6 years (my brother for 22!; they are flawed, boisterous, irritating, wonderful, grumpy, inspirational. It's a revolution they're leading.
check out their myspace site
www.myspace.com/bromheadsjacket for their latest single 'Trip To The Golden Arches'. and watch out in November for the release of their debut Album!
