The Factory Wins Viral Competition

This year's Alpha Viral Competition is over and the winner, which was exclusively voted for by aboutlife.com members, has been revealed...
The Factory was the worthy victor, an entry by Alistair Duckworth, a 23 year old graphic designer from Streatham, S.London.
The 60-second animated film is full of witty and wry humour (watch out for the mid-life-crisis convertable after the kids have left, one of my highlights!) and depicts human life as a conveyor belt from birth to death.
Alistair said, 'I wanted to show that the culture we live in is quite manufactured and so it can often feel that our life is happening to us and that we are just on a treadmill which ultimately leads to death... the trick was to present death as a fact but in a funny way. I wanted it to be light-hearted but at the same time leave you with a bit of a shock a the end.'
After finishing a degree course Alistair worked as a student worker at a New Frontiers church in Farnham during which he attended and led Alpha courses. He said, 'I think the church is often very behind when it comes to connecting with modern culture, but i think Alpha connects very well.'
Rebecca Stewart, who heads up Alpha in the UK loves it and said, 'This brilliant one-minute clip is already reaching computer screens all around the world, raising the profile of Alpha. It is another way for people to take part in this year's Alpha Invitation.'
...So over to you guys! Check it out here (if you haven't already) and download it here and send it to all your buddies... or choose one of the others to spread - whatever might make your friends laugh and think at the same time...
