London Marathon 2007

London Marathon 2007It is time for the training to begin again. Given the excess of christmas I think there is a long way to go. Looking out at the wind and rain of swansea, I am wondering why I am putting myself through it again... The big question for those of you who know me is whether I can stop being stubborn, avoid overtraining and prevent myself from getting injured. I am thinking unlikely...

CHTB

CHTBI would love to encourage anyone who has a heart for children to consider volunteering for CHTB. I have been part of the team for nearly 18 months now and absolutely love it. The team are really warm and there are real and deepening friendships. It is a real blessing to see a child come to know Jesus for the first time and a real privilege to be present at the start of their journeys with God. From a personal perspective, I think it is so easy for us to forget the very simple messages of God's love for us and the sacrifice of Jesus dying on the cross. Hearing these things again from a child's perspective is really refeshing...

To be able to travel

To be able to travelSo the world is a smaller place they say. You can get up off the sofa and in a matter of hours you can be transported to almost anywhere in the world. Last year I went to Tanzania and climbed Kilimanjaro, the highest point in Africa. It was very moving to stand at the top and see the sun rise over what is virtually the whole of Kenya and Tanzania laid out flat before you. Standing there searching for breath and seeing the sheer size and scale of the mountain, it is easy to feel small and insignificant. However we have such a huge impact on the world....They say that within 20 years the snow on top of Kilimanjaro will be gone. I saw pictures this morning of the Blomstrandbreen glacier in Norway, that has shrunk immeasurably in the last 80 years. How can we keep on letting this happen. Is the very fact that we travel so much really destroying what we are trying to see?

Swansea

It is such a blessing to wake up in the morning to the sound of the waves. In London I would wake up to the sound of traffic, but living by the sea is so much more relaxing. I have in my time moaned about being in Swansea, but to have my quiet time infront of a backdrop such as this really does help you focus on the awesome power of God. This world that he has created really is a beautiful beautiful place.
