Lee Duckett in Florida

I can't begin to tell you how excited I am about this...
I'm not sure who Lee Duckett is, but I must admit that whilst I'm really passionate about revival, especially in London but also here in sleepy Eindhoven, and I'm really comfortable with the spiritual realm - the whole excessive shaking thing I find just a bit overdone.  I dunno... maybe I'm just becoming more traditional in my old age.  Maybe I'm just becoming a bit hardened in my heart - Lord, if so then I pray it would be softened - but I just find this a bit weird to be honest...

Excited?  Not so much.
Mmmm.  I do think this sort of vid is difficult to watch.  Puts me off at least... just comes over as hype and weirdness.  I'm sure that what was going on was genuine (can only assume so) and not to negate the guy's spiritual experience and healing (big fat YEY to that), but there's just something about a loud American evangelist type shouting and someone shaking on the floor which screams of "Touch the screen, you're gonna be healed" style con-pseudo-evangelists that gets me so angry (in the words of Martyn Joseph in the legendary Liberal Backslider "I'm gonna take me a TV evangelist and punch him in the face!" I wouldn't go that far!!)  It's great if God is doing amazing stuff, and I accept that it will sometimes be weird but I suppose it just feels all very exhibitionist.

Maybe I'm just a repressed Brit.  Wouldn't be surprised...
I love that song!! swearing like a trooper and drinking like a bum, I'm a liberal backslider but it sure is a lot of fun!!

I've been watching the revival for a couple of weeks now, and it's very interesting hearing what Todd Bentley has to say. He is against laying hands on people and 'pushing' them, but says that he is open to what God wants so will do so if prompted.

However, what's more exciting for me are those coming forward with healing testimonies who haven't been prayed for by Todd but by someone in the crowd. That, for me, is far more telling about what is happening.
For those of you who don't know him, Lee used to be a member of HTB, went off to Vicar factory and is now ordained and ministering just outside London (I knew him both at HTB and his last year at Theological college was my first). While I haven't seen him for a while I can confirm that he is really genuine and loves the Lord. You can also read his story in one of the "God Who Changes Lives" books. It terms of the physical manefestations themselves it is worth asking two questions- 1. Could it be God? 2. What is the fruit in the persons life- do they love God and other people more, are they ministering more effectively, sharing the gospel etc. etc.I think that is also worth reflecting whether our reservations are theological or cultural.

totally agree... I think its seeing it on TV that weirds me out the most... if I was there, it wouldn't seem so strange I don't think...

and Vics - re: liberal backslider rocks, I remember when he tentatively introduced it at Greenbelt and got a fantastic reception which bowled him over... hilarious.
Had quite a few chats about this over the last weekend and I must admit, I think I've changed my view on this one.
It's substance, not style, which is important is what Nicky G said on Sunday...must say I agree with him, and not just because he's my boss.
