English Cricket's renaisance bowler. What's in a name?

Well after a 2-month hiatus i thought it about time to come back with some mindless drivel to bless and enrich your lives!

So, my family name is 'Horner' and that comes from 2 sources that I know of:
1. A horn craftsman - either making stuff from horn or making horns
2. The person who blows the horn, in battle etc

I did hear that someone who research the name that some Horners came over with the Vikings and were reputedly some top rate pillagers...

GBG* in da USA: Part 4

Well, I have to admit the camera hasn't come out of it's case so much in the last few days... only for sunsets etc. So I have put together a little sights and scenes BUT I cannot upload stuff to the internet or send emails here... I am slightly shocked that even with a combination of a new Powermac and California cannot get full internet access regularly!

I have a few more photos but I cannot show you them just yet!! Sorry

GBG* in da USA: Part 3

OK so we've been in California for 3 days... we've rehearsed, eaten many burgers and been to the beach!

We arrived at the Anaheim Vineyard on Monday evening for a rehearsal and a burger. Anaheim is is huge... a wonderful place indeed - they have huge compassion ministry facilities and also run an actual school.
All the team and staff and hosts have been totally wonderful and lovely too.

GBG* in da USA: Part 2

So Sunday evening is here and I ma watching a film called Everything Is Illuminated... a comedy about Ukraine... so I thought I'd bung up a photo update of our trip around the US.

We started Day 2 (Friday) with a spectacular home-made American breakfast by Dan, our host. From there we rolled into town for an early lunch (we didn't know the plans for the day!!). Anyway we say the new film Amazing Grace - follows the story of Hull's own William Wilberforce... a great film - go see it!

Profundity in the Pulp

Disregarding the rule about never taking stuff out of context - here's a question:
What is your favourite and most poignant pop lyric? Not the whole song - just the hook that sitcks in your mind... the real 'pop' of the song...  (you need to be able to name the tune and singer too)....

The first one that popped into my mind is:
'I don't know how to live without your love, I was born to make you happy' (Born To Make You Happy, by Ms Spears... why won't the media leave her alone and stop making it worse?).

GBG* in da USA: Part 1

(*GBG = Great Big God).
In 2001 we recorded a kids worship album called Great Big God...
we have followed it up with 3 more albums too... along the way we have done many Great Big God events in the UK and South Africa and we have now just landed in the US for a couple of events and training stuff over here.

I am currently on day 2, yesterday we flew into Washington Dulles and drove to Miillersville (Central Maryland Vineyard). A bunch of 6 very tired Brits we're welcomed by some extremely hostpitable and exctied locals! Today we will try to reassure them that we are excited and fun!!

Sign Of The Times PART ONE

I love finding bizarre signs and typos around the place... I have one round the corner from my house that I have to snap soon... maybe that'll appear in part two. But for now:

This Bradford curry house had an interesting alternative to chicken in the Multani Special:
Sign Of The Times PART ONEThis bus I thought had a fairly morbid approach to proceedure in case of an accident - push out the remnants... let's think positive, huh?
