God is in the house (A)

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds did a song called God is in the House which kind of rinsed Bible-belt Christianity- the type of Christianity where all is "as quiet as a mouse, for God is in the house." It brings to mind a bit what Jesus said about cleaning the outside of the cup.

"Moral sneaks in the White House
Computer geeks in the school house
Drug freaks in the crack house
We don't have that stuff here"

I think it's a very interesting song.

It's not an issue of what's right or wrong, it's an issue of God's grace. I suppose that we maybe should be looking at God, not comparing ourselves to others. I really need humility, a lot. Some people fail to see that Christianity is unconnected to class, caste, race or status. The bible shows so much of how God is not far off- the crux of it all is that Jesus, God's rescue plan BY GRACE, comes along and hangs out with the down and out. They get a leg up, because they can't make it on their own, and we're all like that really. There's so much joy in the fact that we can come into a relationship with the living, life-giving God: "where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom."

It's not an issue of what's right or wrong, it's an issue of God's grace. I suppose that maybe we should be looking at God, not comparing ourselves to others. I really pray i'll have a lot more humility.

I was going to make a t-shirt which said 'God is in the house' on it, but i wondered whether that would give over the wrong message. i wonder what Mr Cave would have made of Johnny Cash singing 'Hurt'- "what have i become? my sweetest friend... i will let you down." Nick Cave went on to describe himself as a Christian, so that's good. His journey of faith is really interesting.
