Hello, i've just written an essay. It was meant to be no longer than 2,000 words and i counted 1,989 without including references or the title. through much of the time spent doing the essay i wanted to write a blog entry about my bedroom and also about how good God has been to me and how I have been enjoying Him lately.

Now i am in college and i have to hand in my essay. it is my flatmate's birthday today so i'm having some lunch with him. and, God willing, i will do some art. holidays start tomorrow. i remember the beginning of the easter holidays when i was at primary school. usually you's be given mini eggs or something. it was quite exciting.

so, something that struck me during church yesterday, at some point, was that nothing is impossible for God. i think it must be tied up with salvation because its so healing to hear those words. nothing is impossible! wow, the sooner i get that worldview the better!

Here's some letters to keep you amused. And here's where i paint in when i'm at college which is Edinburgh College of Art. Being in an art college is a strange thing- your perception of it changes from that which you have when you first see the place. So now i see this college as very different to how i first did. It's not any worse for that, just different, and i'm interested in the difference. I think it happens with a lot of places like college, school or work (though i've never worked in an office for longer than a week i don't think). When i was really young we visited Dad's office in London, and if i remember correctly it had a green door (and no wireless internet). Both good things i think

All, There will be a new children's movie out in December called "The Golden Compass". The movie has been described as "atheism for kids" and is based on the first book of a trilogy entitled "His Dark Materials" that was written by Phillip Pullman. Pullman is a militant atheist and secular humanist who despises C. S. Lewis and the "Chronicles of Narnia". His motivation for writing this trilogy was specifically to counteract Lewis' symbolisms of Christ that are portrayed in the Narnia series.

i need less pride and more humility. i wonder if thats what paul talked about when he said that he does the things he doesnt want to do and doesnt do the things he wants to do. i dont want pride but i have it. i want to see people through eyes of grace from now on- everyone was worth dying for in God's eyes. also, Jesus was so humble to be made temporal, when he had existed for eternity. His humility was astronomical (that's probably true in that it was absolute humility- perfect humility cos He is God) and my humility is SO small. i wonder if im just telling myself i want it. i wonder what needs to change. maybe i should pray to be made willing to be humble

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds did a song called God is in the House which kind of rinsed Bible-belt Christianity- the type of Christianity where all is "as quiet as a mouse, for God is in the house." It brings to mind a bit what Jesus said about cleaning the outside of the cup.

hello i'm still here and planning a big blog entry soon so watch the space above this one. for now- psalm 92 says to proclaim the Lord's love in the morning and to proclaim His faithfulness in the evening. i think this is a good way to start and end one's day, and i know God matches up to what the psalm says. Get in love with God. that's my prescription (if i have the authority to prescribe things)

last night i went to see idlewild in perth. it was brilliant, the more i think back to it. idlewild are my favourite band. my favourite song they played last night was 'not just sometimes, but always' because the whole band did it, which is not the case on the album recording. i crowdsurfed in 'a modern way of letting go', which was SO fun. they said they might kick you out if you crowdsurfed twice. i asked whether if you did it three times they would kill you, and nobody laughed at that joke, but i've now realised that if you got kicked out on the second go you wouldnt be able to have a third one, so maybe thats why. the encore was 'in competition for the worst time', 'love steals us from loneliness' and 'in remote part/scottish fiction' and was a good encore i thought. the first time i ever saw them they played 'in remote part' last as well. its a good way to end a show, because they do this instrumental and then finish with a recording of edwin morgan reading his poem scottish fiction. bored of apostrophes now.

this weekend was the uccf scotland cu leaders' weekend away, which i went on. what fun it was- i'd forgotten how you can be so caught up in God and in his people- where you are living under no pretence and basking in who God is, so to speak. i loved it.
