Lost Sheep, The Basics and Watering Cans!

For a number of personal reasons it's been turbulent again over  these last few months.

1) I have family members with considerable health problems, increased work pressures with cost of living, and also church which is busy and we are about to have staff changes. This is making a bit cream crackered!

2) Also I am single and 38 and if I am totally honest it can be both a joy and also a pain in the bum at times!

Back On About Life!

Hi all,

It's been a while since I last posted here - Christmas Eve in fact. My 2007 has so far been a very mixed bag of affairs.

The start of the year  for me could not have been much worse, I have been working far too hard with church in particular and trying to do too much (again!)

On 3rd January I drove my car into a Ford (or as the Aussies call em a creek!) and wrote my car off, I had to get Surrey Fire Brigade to tow me out (you don't arf feel a complete twit doing something like this) :-(  !!!

Happy Christmas.

Folks,

My goodness it's Christmas Eve, and I can now relax for a couple of days at least!

I wish all 'About Lifer's' a great Christmas and look forward to reading some more great posts next year.

Take Heed Of Advice from God

I leant a bit this week about taking heed of advice if God gives it to you.

As I have mentioned before, I am a sound tech  for my church here, which I enjoy doing and get a boost when it goes well.

For the last two weeks when mixing, I began experiencing a howl in my ears which was starting to get worse, with rather a nasty headache as well. Eventually even listening to the TV or radio became unbearable. I thought I heard a voice telling me to go the doctors. Initially I ignored it thinking that things will go away, but it didn't, so I made an appointment.

What is your idol ?

What is your idol ?
Moses - Golden Calf (posted above)

I have been challenged this week on idolatory.

I realised thinking about it that the"I need a woman" feeling that I get from time to time (and I know some others have this - you ladies "I need a man" obviously!), has got out of hand.  I now realise that I have been rather stupid :-( - it has become an idol

The Power of Prayer - believe it.

I was reminded this week of how God can answer prayer for the little things, which are so important.

Too often, we want God to pull out the kind of show stoppers and the spectaculars, and treat the every day things too casually, and for granted.

Last weekend - I had to exit worship central quickly during mid afternoon as I had to get back home to do something at my own church during the evening. Unsually I felt quite down when i got back (I normally feel inspired after a WC day).

Archie's "Tagging!" remark last night at HTB!

Folks,

Last night I paid HTB one of my occasional visits, which I do this from time to time to "drink" of the worship as it were. I also got to meet one or two other "AL" folk as well :-)

(By the way I have been a tad perplexed recently with things down here but I must persevere! -prayer for me and the church I go to most welcome!)

Class systems - beware!

I was having a chat with another time giver on a Guildford Besom Van trip last night. This bloke amazed me how being new to the faith for him, he was grasping how much God loved him, and what faith in Jesus was all about.

This chap was a cab driver, and said things like "Alright guv" if you follow me!  Over a drink afterwards we discussed a number of things, but the "social class" structure came up and also for those of you who go there HTB.

Having a "Black" moment

Occasionally during my walk with God, I suffer what I call a "black" moment. To explain, this is where the lights go out spritually for a short period of time.

I went through one of these at around 8pm on Thursday evening. To explain, I had been out on a van run with the Guildford Besom during the day, and then gone into work during the evening.

I read something and then immediately felt down asking questions like:

Unexpected happenings....

I have just come back from a UK conference hosted by a well known large IT software company at Heathrow.

In the evening I was speaking to one of the event organisers over a beer and was actually talking about the PA/ AV systems they had used (the main room used was 50 metres long) , and explained how I was interested in this being a church sound technician.
