mozambique trip

I'm off to mozambique on Saturday...here are some of my hopes...

"I am looking forward to spending some time getting out of the current 9-5 Western mind set that I live in. To be able to place my hopes and fears, joys and worries in the context of another culture. And to be able to reevaluate and appreciate with more sincerity the things that I currently put value on in comparison to those who have far less than me.

Exploring Keys

...from Christian Schubart's Ideen zu einer Aesthetik der Tonkunst (1806)

C Major
Completely Pure. Its character is: innocence, simplicity, naïvety, children's talk.

C Minor
Declaration of love and at the same time the lament of unhappy love. All languishing, longing, sighing of the love-sick soul lies in this key.

Db Major
A leering key, degenerating into grief and rapture. It cannot laugh, but it can smile; it cannot howl, but it can at least grimace its crying.--Consequently only unusual characters and feelings can be brought out in this key.

Worship Central

Great day today with friends at the worship central retreat.  I accompanied Martyn Layzell who was there to lead a couple of sessions during the day and record some stuff for the podcast.

We looked a bit at leadership and what makes a good one, both biblically and more generally, and also more specifically in regards to worship leading.
