FUNG YING

You are so welcome to the blog of hongkongsnelly. Although South London born, bred and raised, I came to Hong Kong in 1987 with the intention of staying here with my family for 3 years. What went horribly wrong was that I fell in love with the place and the people and have well and truly become a 'Hongkonger'.
That gives me a real problem. When people say 'Where are you from?' and I answer 'Hong Kong', they invariably say 'No, where are you REALLY from?'

I am REALLY from Hong Kong and am fully prepared to stay here for the rest of my life, if that is God's Will.

God has allowed me to be part of the pastoral team at the most amazing church, The Vine (www.thevine.org.hk). My two sons, their wives and grandson all also live in Hong Kong. Yes I am a Hongkonger! The blog flits between family, church, sport (mainly Spurs!) and items of special interest.Sometimes it is updated regularly, sometimes a little more sporadically. It is a privilege to be a part of the aboutlife community, and to serve as Chairman of the HK Alpha Board.

So.......

Enjoy a quick trip to the land of the chopstick and Hang Seng Index.........

Oohh! I know that one! We originally went over for two years and stayed for seven. I believe there is a two year watershed (with me it was way before 2 years), once passed that watershed, Hong Kong works itself into every fiber of one's being, and leaving the place is like a barbed fish hook cruelly pulled out.

Thank God for His grace and healing!

Bless you and all involved at the Vine!
Angelika.
