Fantastic episode - required listening for anybody who wants to know about the Alpha Course.
What a good and exciting initiative Godpod is - thank you guys.
Just listened to no 18 with Nicky Gumbel. Lots there that was interesting - and Nicky was personable and charming, a great ambassador as always.
However, I am sure that I am not the Christian leader in the country who uses Alpha with an element of discomfort. It has clearly been well used and it is a good and well recognised introduction to the Christian faith. However, I do have questions about it - the lack of a global perspective on sin, the focus on being sure, when I spend a lot of time telling people's it OK to have doubts, the amount of time spent talking about the gifts of tongues, not to mention the danger of what John Drain has called 'The Macdonaldisation of the Church'.
I was sad that here in this safe space the team could not ask Nicky G to tackle some of these difficult questions - they are real questions that concern people who are onside with Alpha. Surely in the context of a theological centre some of these could be asked.
To be honest 'it's good because it works - we just need to work out why' isn't good enough.
Thank you though folks - I look forward to hearing more
Hello, I enjoyed listening to this enormously - thank you.

I would suggest transferring this GodPod to CD to include in the Alpha packs for church leaders/Alpha hosts.  If my husband and I hadn't already been on an Alpha course  we would definitely have been persuaded, after listening to this.

I wish to ask one question.  Is there a post-Alpha course available?  Having committed ourselves to Christ we are keen to study the bible more but we are struggling... we need the discipline of an EFFECTIVE organised group.

Being brought to Jesus Christ is the best thing that has ever happened in our lives but we all need to know, undertand and use the Bible, just as we need a map and compass if we were lost.... as we often are!

God bless you all and please keep up the excellent work.

With love, Annie
We are developing our 'School of Theology' - a course taught at HTB going deeper into Christian faith & theology & we are aiming to film it so other churches can use it just like they use ALpha - see our website www.htb.org.uk/sptc for more about this course. It should comeout sometime next year....
Fantastic - I look forward to hearing more about this - many thanks.
