Well then

I'm now counting down the days until Gaz Man's (and Pol's) Big Tour of the World. Only three weeks to go - where has the time gone?!

So I thought, what could be the least sensible thing to do before going away on three months' unpaid leave? Yes, buy a house. So that's exactly what I've done. (Some of you with more vivid imaginations can probably think of far less sensible things to do, possibly involving a bath full of baked beans and/or custard.)

I wasn't looking to buy; it just kind of happened. It was the perfect opportunity. I can afford it. And best of all, the place won't be finished until March next year. Which is exactly the time that the Big Tour of the World will be finishing.

At a number of points earlier this year, I was frustrated by the forthcoming trip away as it appeared to be minimising my opportunities. I'd lost count of the number of times I'd thought to myself, "I'll be able to do that in March next year."

But God has had his hand on my life. The opportunity to move jobs just kind of happened. Then the opportunity to buy a house just kind of happened. In both cases, I wasn't actively looking. So now I just need to stop actively looking for lovely lovely ladies, and God will bring one along.

He is great, isn't He?

Well, that's exciting. Congratulations on the new house. Bath of custard and baked beans, huh? No clever retort, just considering how much custard and baked beans it would take to fill a bath. Happy trails!
Thanks a lot Jen, the new house is very exciting. So much to sort out now...

Apparently, if you fill a swimming pool with custard, then you can walk across it. The custard compresses when you walk on it, meaning it's able to take your weight. It's probably even more able to do this if you wait until it gets a skin on it!

Now that is amazing. I don't like custard but I've never tried to walk on it...
I thought custard was a thixotropic non-Newtonian fluid, which is why you can walk quickly / run across a swimming pool filled with custard, yet if you stand still, you'll slowly sink into the custard.

Sorry, this is probably why I don't blog much - if I did, it'd be incredibly boring!
That wasn't boring - thixotropic is a great word - never heard that one before, despite having had the benefits of a classical education.

Sinking into a swimming pool of custard - what a tragic way to go that would be!
