I imagine if you’re reading this blog you will be aware of the scripture in Romans 12:2. If you’re not, it says:
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
I think that it's always possible to improve things. Well at least to try to improve things.
So, with that in mind, I'm interested to do what I can to improve Christian music. Now I'm not a musician or writer (my background is the business side of the music industry) but am interested in improving Christian music.
Musicians, singers, writers - how can that happen? How can we grow Christian music? How can we have bands look to us for inspiration. We do after all have God the Creator.
I’ve often wondered if Christian music is a genre in its own right such as rock, rap, country, metal, rnb or is it something else that embraces all those genres. If it embraces all genres, what then is Christian music?
Where do you draw the line between overt and covert Christian music? Bach is a great example, as are some modern day writers clearly inspired by God eg: Natasha Bedingfield.
What for you is the difference between Old Worship Songs and New Ones?
Is it the difference between Shout to the Lord and Amazing Grace - or perhaps maybe it could be Shine Jesus Shine and I am a Friend of God?
In light of encouragement to "sing a new song" - should we even bother with old songs?
Thoughts?
