Patience is a virtue

I've just flown over to Sydney for 9-12 months' living and working here. The thing was that although for a couple of years I had felt strongly called to be in Sydney, I wasn't sure why exactly and what work I should do. Nevertheless, here I am, waiting on the Lord and trying to discern what to do next.

I can happily say that to some extent it's all coming together, having been here a week now. I visited 2 churches on Sunday (Hillsong - City, and St.Matthews's in Manly) and the welcome I felt at St.Matt's left me in doubt about which church to attend. I can't wait to get stuck in over there!!

Argh! I've been tagged!

On a more light hearted note, Diana has tagged me and so my fours come below. Why can't it be 3 - that's my favourite number? Oh my goodness only a mathermatician and accountant would have a favourite number, I am such a geek...

Four jobs I have had in my life:
1. Auditor for a large firm of accountants
2. Barmaid in lovely country old man style pub - that's it below!

A very un-boat potato-like man!

I was totally inspired reading the Metro this morning, which is an unusual event if ever there was one.

Norman Kember was quoted as saying that he felt it was sometimes necessary to take irresponsible risks to see the kingdom come. He and his team have been criticised from many sides for doing exactly that, but you can't deny that he wasn't being a "boat potato", as John Ortberg would say. I've been reading his well -known book "If you want to walk on water, you've got to get out of the boat" and it's a great reminder to us all that in order to achieve in our varying callings we often have to do things of which we are afraid, or don't feel qualified to do. We will never grow unless we get out of our comfort zones and stretch ourselves, and growth is the only way to fulfil our potential. I'm trying to stop myself giving in to any feelings of fear and underconfidence in any ways I can, and to step out of the boat just a little every day, and I urge you to do the same.
