This morning I took a deep breath and set of from Vauxhall for a short journey to Sidcup. The car journey in theory should have been quicker than the train plus I need to up my experience of driving in London as the roads aren’t quite the same in south Wales. So off I went with the tom tom guiding me and the best boy bands ever cd to keep me company.
With in about 15 mins I was in solid traffic with cars coming out of no-where, buses were cutting me up and motor cyclists were living in my blind spot. To add to my stress levels the pages, text messages and phone calls started coming in about the letter bomb in Victoria.

So I pulled over answered everything I had to and then I took a few minutes out to pray.
I’d love to say I had a Bruce Almighty moment with the cars parting but I didn’t.
The traffic remained awful but I made a conscious decision to spend the rest of my journey letting in as many buses and cars from junctions as I could.
I’m sure I wound up those waiting behind me but to see the relief and smiles on the faces of those trying to get into a stream of oncoming traffic was hugely cheering.
And so I wound up at my destination a perky lady who was exactly on time. (Which is just as well as talking to a class room of 15 year olds with road rage at the back of my mind may not have been the best thing.)
My love affair with public transport will continue tomorrow and I will be ever so grateful that I don’t have to endlessly use my right thigh muscle to ride the clutch. But when I next climb behind the wheel I will try and practise a little more road loving rather than road rage.
(This is how I tried to
serve the Lord today French stick)
