Marching to Malshanger

The March pastorate went to Malshanger this weekend and as usual it was fantastic.

So the good stuff:
God was very present and speaking clearly to members of the group, our community felt closer than ever, the sun shone, people climbed trees and best of all Wales won the rugby ;o)

The bad stuff:
We had to come home and Iesa turned into a pirate.

Here's some of our fun PHOTOS.

A smile for friday

Nelson Mandela is sitting at home watching TV and drinking a beer when he hears a knock at the door. When he opens it, he is confronted by a little Chinese man, clutching a clipboard and yelling, "You Sign! You sign!"
Behind him is an enormous truck full of car exhausts. Nelson is standing there in complete amazement, when the Chinese man starts to yell louder, "You Sign! You sign!"

Ten tips from God

A few tips that God might be giving you:

1. QUIT WORRYING:
Life has dealt you a blow and all you do is sit
and worry. Have you forgotten that I am here
to take all your burdens and carry them for you?

Courage is an everyday thing

I don’t know if you’ve seen the posters on the tube at the moment, they are selling a book. I don’t know what book, I don’t really care. I just am so grateful for being surrounded by the message that "Courage is an everyday thing".
When life is pretty shocking and just getting out of bed involves a huge mental battle then it’s good to know that all God is asking us to do is take one little step and face the day. If we can have a little courage everyday to fight our little battles then maybe we will find those battles over weeks and months become a campaign that is winning a war. But we don’t need to think about that as we blearily start each day, we just need to ask “God what do you want me to do today?” “Please give me courage”

Road love vs. Road rage
This morning I took a deep breath and set of from Vauxhall for a short journey to Sidcup. The car journey in theory should have been quicker than the train plus I need to up my experience of driving in London as the roads aren’t quite the same in south Wales. So off I went with the tom tom guiding me and the best boy bands ever cd to keep me company.

With in about 15 mins I was in solid traffic with cars coming out of no-where, buses were cutting me up and motor cyclists were living in my blind spot. To add to my stress levels the pages, text messages and phone calls started coming in about the letter bomb in Victoria.

What we learn from our parents and our friends

WHEN YOU THOUGHT I WASN'T LOOKING

A message every adult should read, because children are watching you and doing as you do, not as you say.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator, and I immediately wanted to paint another one.

This article made me smile ;o)

Are there any lakes in the Lake District? Is Wales closed during the winter? In what month is the May Day demonstration?

These are just some of the bizarre questions dealt with by staff on a daily basis at one of Britain's tourist centres.

Staff at the Britain & London Visitor Centre on Regent Streetin London have been left scratching their heads at some of the lost-in-translation queries they receive at the help centre.

Hit by a brick

A young and successful executive was travelling down a neighbourhood street, going a bit too fast in his new Jaguar. He was watching for kids darting out from between parked cars and slowed down when he thought he saw something. As his car passed, no children appeared. Instead, a brick smashed into the Jag's side door! He slammed on the brakes and backed the Jag back to the spot where the brick had been thrown The angry driver then jumped out of the car, grabbed the nearest kid and pushed him up against a parked car shouting, "What was that all about and who are you? Just what the heck are you doing? That's a new car and that brick you threw is going to cost a lot of money. Why did you do it?"

A singing heart

I was blessed enough to be part of the HTB choir again this weekend and I just loved it.
The HTB carols are so moving and it's so easy to get friends and family along as the services are so very special. Seeing those you love in the congregation (who don’t yet know Jesus) singing with all their might to Hark the Herald is so incredibly moving.
Also the Harrods service was wonderful, you get all different types of people there and it wouldn't be Christmas without a little child running around.

God in a meeting

Things have been pretty manic for me over the last couple of weeks.
However, through the craziness I’ve seen my relationship with God keep growing. I’m not always great at remembering to pray before meetings and earlier in the week I certainly didn’t. I can usually hold my own in meetings even when I’m the only female in the room which is a common occurrence, but in this particular meeting I didn’t. I had decided to raise a sensitive issue with an individual at the end of the meeting rather in front of the full forum as he is renowned for being brash. Unfortunately someone else brought the subject up in the meeting and so forced me to speak up. This ended up with me being bullied not only by the individual concerned but also by the chair who the individual works for.
