A friend of mine recently shared how God had literally performed a miracle in her workplace. She works for an agency providing Care Centres. One of these was due for closure for various reasons, causing huge distress all round. After loads of prayers, and just before the crisis meeting, God turned up!
I haven't been following The Apprentice, but I did catch some of the headlines from last week. Apparently, 2 of the candidates (Paul & Katie) had been getting close, and the romance was beginning to affect their work performance. Paul paid the price last week, and was on the receiving end of Sir Alan's immortal words 'You're fired'. One commentator put it: "For Katie and Paul, love got in the way of a job well done. It clouded their judgement and I'm sure they will regret their relationship."
I had one of those surreal moments the other day: I'd just been watching a documentary on the UN's peace-keeping mission in Haiti, and how they were attempting to tackle violence in the infamous ghetto, the 'Cite du Soleil'. Now in itself, this was surreal enough, as this world was as far removed from my comfortable existence in Andover as Pluto is from the Sun, but that's a subject for another blog.
I was extremely privileged to have breakfast with a good friend of mine and his family (thanks Seán!). Their children were excited as it's the last day of term, and Luke, the eldest, was allowed to go to school dressed in 'non-uniform'!!
We all know that Church isn't just about Sunday services, but also the rest of the week. In my experience however, the 2 can often seem at loggerheads. I don't know about you, but it can sometimes feel that we're torn between two demanding taskmasters: church meetings on one hand are the heartbeat of church life, but work seems to take so much out of you.
