Pegasus Town
Stonewood Homes is proud to be associated with the Pegasus development: a home for over 5,000 residents, where lifestyle, fun and entertainment are built into the very fabric of the community.
Accessed by a landmark entranceway off State Highway 1, Pegasus is situated on a stretch of pristine coastline - Pegasus Bay - just 25 kilometres north of Christchurch.
Built around a beautifully designed lake and extending to the shores of Pegasus Bay, Pegasus offers an incredible array of recreational features - restaurants and cafes, boutique shopping and larger-scale retail stores, a premier resort hotel, dedicated yacht club, swimming bay and aquatic centre, a golf club and community course - all within walking distance of every home.
Set at the heart of a remarkable coastal eco-system, Pegasus has been designed to protect and enhance the conservation and cultural values of its surrounding environment. Pegasus is also established as a vibrant, sustainable community - with opportunities for work, education and leisure developed at the very beginning of the project. Pegasus has been conceived for the traditional Kiwi family - to create the ideal place to live, where you play.
Too good to be true??
'Fraid so
Pegasus Town doesnt exist (yet) its being developed between now and 2010. Its currently a boggy wilderness by the Pacific Ocean about 3 miles east of here in Rangiora.
Im fascinated by the place. Theres something almost sinister about it. Radio and TV ads are selling the concept like its a reality. A lady from church lives on the proposed access road - she says that every weekend they get families driving past asking if they're heading the right way to Pegasus Town.. when told its not actually been built yet they laugh disbelievingly and drive on. They've totally bought into the concept... clever marketing!
ANYWAY it has EVERYTHING you need to realise the ultimate lifestyle... apparently.
just one omission... something the government and planners didnt think about
The not-yet-town comes under the parish Im working for here. Ive just read the plans for a proposed new church plant ... the first in the whole of Canterbury (the birthplace of NZ church planting) for over 20 YEARS! ....yes its dry over here!
Its fantastic proposal..... not a purpose built 'church building' for people to 'come to' but a cafe/bar/CENTRE OF THE COMMUNITY in a town that doesnt exist yet in a country where there IS no 'centre of the community' in most towns... what an opportunity!
cool
'Pegasus' (n.) 'everywhere the winged horse struck hoof to earth, an inspiring spring burst forth'
Behold, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs forth; do you not perceive and know it and will you not give heed to it? I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:18-20
