I went to Carnegie Hall last night for a work outing. What a spectacular place! The concert by the Cleveland Orchestra was amazing and I was just in awe on how individual people can make such brilliant music together. With all that is going on in the world, it was a wonderful retreat into what is "good and right" in this world. And a reminder that humans are capable of creating such phenomenal beauty. Within this 2 hour concert, so many themes went through my head. Beauty, memories, good v. bad, right v. wrong, teamwork, harmony, grace, peace, struggle and rest. It is just simply amazing to me what music can do.
I also sat there, quite grateful to even HEAR the music (as hearing aids make such a remarkable difference). Not knowing what is going on with my ears and this continual hearing loss, it is a scary thought that one day I may not hear the music anymore. Perhaps that is why it means so much to me now. I often struggle with the hearing loss - b/c I am so involved in music (writing, listening, playing). I wonder why I was given a talent, only for God to block me from using it. So far and thankfully, that hasn't happened as my ears still work, just not as good as before.
At any rate : To all musicians out there - THANK YOU for rejoicing and using your talents!
