Quick hello

After almost two years of hard slog, I'm preparing for my last exam on Tuesday 16th June.

Plus, I've got to find to a new place to live in July.

So pretty busy at the moment.

But will blog more afterwards.

But my blogs may be a bit different from when I used to blog regularly.

For example, I very rarely eat cake nowadays.  But I really love salads at the moment.

I was playing tourist this weekend as I had a friend staying with me.

I had coffee at the Charles Dickens coffee shop in Covent Garden which is in the building which was used to publish Dickens' first magazine.

Being Topol

Comments about my appearance that I have received in the last 24 hours:

"You look like Topol"

"You remind me of my ancestors" (from a man with Polish Jewish ancestry).

"You look a bit like you're fighting for the Revolution".

"Gyppo"

Maybe it's time I had a shave.

On the plus side, I'm receivi

There's a gift shop at the South Pole...

I got free tickets to the Destinations Travel Show at Earls Court. So I went on Saturday. And again on Sunday as I still had a spare ticket and I couldn't get into a talk I wanted to go to which was being repeated on Sunday (and on Sunday there was a mostly different schedule with more great talks).

I listened to all these talks about different countries and interviews with adventurers like Charley Boorman, olympic skiier/extreme sports show guy Graham Bell, talks on photography, writing, etc.

Bagel of the Day

This lunchtime, I enjoyed Moroccan style hummus (with red pepper and topped with whole chickpeas), on cinnamon and raisin bagels.

Coffee Powered Cars?

I've just read this article...

http://uk.cars.yahoo.com/09012009/36/ coffee-replace-diesel-0.html

Someone's discovered that you can extract oil from coffee grounds which can then be used as a biofuel to run cars.  Research is now underway to see if it's really a viable alternative to diesel.

Pear Cider and Sea Urchins

My brother-in-law and I decided to take my niece for a walk after dinner today.  We took a short walk along the Waterfront.  We saw a man in a boat with loads of sea urchins.  He was cutting out the bottom of each sea urchin and putting them in a basket.

We then decided to take the baby to the pub (which had a lovely fire).  We noticed that sea urchins (ones that are now dried) were being sold at the bar.

Happy Christmas

I'm off to Cornwall after work today for Christmas.

I hope you have an amazing Christmas and New Year.
