I'm a vandal

Sad, but apparently true.
It all started when I came across a page on Wikipedia which was inaccurate and had an article attached which did not seem to be have any place in a respectable encyclopedia- free and online or not. So I logged in and amended the text and took the article out.
I figured that for an online encyclopedia to be of any use it should at the very lest be both accurate and objective. It was then put back in, so I took it out again. I then got a message telling me in no uncertain terms that I had been reported for vandalizing a page and if I continued to do this I would be blocked.
"Hold on a second" I thought, "all I've done is correct an article by amending a paragraph so that it was objective and removed an article that would have no place in any respectable encyclopedia." "Blueboy" (not their real user name) did not seem to agree. So now I'm a page vandal.
My friend tells me that's the equivalent of being socially unacceptable in cyberspace. Apparently it's OK to vandalize a reputation online. Just make sure your not the one who tries correct it.
That's serious.

Go do it again! And tell blueboy to get his facts straight. I hate morons.
I wouldn't worry about it. I've seen pages where there has been continual changes, real or not. My favourite (though it was very unfair) was the page of the ref of the Ireland v France game at Croke Park last year. His page got vandalised in subtle ways by Irish fans who were annoyed that their team had lost. What they wrote wasn't terrible but it was annoying for his brother who was looking after the page!

Can't you make your changes under the discussion tab. There is usually a way of challenging content and it's usually best to go down those channels rather than just make the changes straight off.
I'm curious about what the article was and why it was inaccurate.  Maybe if you give us a link to the page, we could all post comments in the discussion tab suggesting that parts of the article is inaccurate?
