On a recent holiday to Granada in Spain I had the pleasure of being able to spend the entire time relaxing. It was funny on my first day there I was walking at hectic london pace trying to see the city sites, however I soon realised that I did'nt need to be in a hurry for anything. From that moment on I disciplined myslef to relax and enjoyed.
Gone went the walking round like a lunatic, in came the gentle stroll. It was blissful. I spent so much time in cafes reading, time in pleasant parks dozing and was able to look at some of the most amazing architecture ever constructed in the Alhambra (see above photo).
Most of all it was great to get the time and space to allow oneselve to think and hear God. Living and working in a place like Peckham which is always hectic and where there is always need can become quite overwhelming. At work there is always something that needs to be done and so often I forget that it is important to be and not just do.
The main lesson that I have learnt from this lovely break is that relaxation is an art and it is an art I am learning to master.
