Tomorrow myself and my colleague Amanda Walker have the priviledge of travelling to Uganda. We are being sent out there for ten days from All Saints to interview prospective PUMPS (All Saints Volunteer Placement Scheme), and to assist at a training conference for church leaders all over Uganda at which I will be leading worship.
Me and Amanda are both excited and a little daunted by this trip but no doubt it will be fruitful as we really believe God is opening up some exciting opportunities for us as a church in Uganda.
We have a very busy scheduele out there which follows like this:
Thur 1st: Amanda and I fly out joined by Robert De Berry (vicar St Marks Kennington)
Fri 2nd: Arrive in capital Kampala. Meetings/interviews at All Saints Cathedral and with the Archbishop Henry Orombi.
Drive 140 miles to visit Barnabus Trust Projects.
Sat 3rd: Vist Barnabus projects in Mbale. Travel 60 miles further north to Soroti.
Sun 4th: Ministry trip to Soroti Cathedral, then travel back to Kampala
Mon 5th: More interveiews in Kampala with potential gap year workers. Drive 300miles south to Kabale that evening.
Tues 6th-Fri 9th: Church leaders conference in Kabale, looking at Christian response to Islam and the Walk Through the Bible project. I will be leading some of the worship whilst we are here and hopefully we have an opportunity to visit some of the beatiful countryside.
Sat 10th: Travel across the Rwanda border to its capital Kigali doing some work for Barnabus fund, staying overnight.
Sun 11th: After church making the 300 mile trip back to Kamplala.
Mon 12th: Morning flight back to London.
Any prayers will be warmly recieved by us, mainly for discernment for our interview process and to know which people would be best to come and serve as PUMPS. Also for safety and protection for us and that we might make real lasting friendships with the people we meet out there and that we might be a real blessing to the people we minister to out there.
I look forward to seeing you all when I return.
