Flowers from the fire

I was watching one of the BBC programmes about the Chelsea Flower show last night.  I was particularly struck by the story of the South African stand.

A few months ago there were some pretty fierce fires on the slopes of Table Mountain.  I remember seeing pictures of clouds of smoke hiding the familiar outline.  Everything turned to black and apparently dead.  Then within just a few weeks these amazing pink lillies appeared all over the slopes in amongst all the black skeletons of the burnt bushes and out of the black, burnt ground.  These flowers hadn't been seen for 15 years since the last fire.  They had lain dormant under the ground as bulbs, where no one could see them and where they couldn't grow or reproduce.  Just living.

I want to go to Trinidad!

Just said goodbye to a couple of great ladies from Trinidad who were in London for International week.  They arrived on Sunday after a long journey and kept up a hectic pace all week.  Each evening they returned home bubbling with enthusiasm - totally infectious and energising.

Another sort of London

Just wanted to show you all that there is a different sort of London - yes it really is in London.  A really stuning bluebell wood.  Perfect for peaceful walks!

When God Made You

This blew me away when I read it.

When God Made You

When
God
Made
You
There
Was
Silence
In
Heaven
For
Five
Minutes
Then
God
Said
"How come I never thought of that before?"

(Don't know what OSB means??????)

Are you happy?

Did you hear that the British are not as happy now compared to the 50s 'despite being three times richer'!  Is that news?  I don't think so.  What unnerved me was the discussion about whether the government should be making policies to make us happy.  David Cameron was even heard to say something along the lines of putting 'joy in our hearts'.

Sure, I want to see politicians making bold moves to encourage God focussed lives, but I don't know about political spin on this.  Makes me nervous!
