Domination of the SanctuarySeptember 18, 2008 - 2:48pm | email this page
![]() In the Alpha Training Stream 2 last night Mike Lloyd mentioned we proclaim Jesus gently and without force or coercion quoting Isaiah 42:3 (New International Version) 3 A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out. In faithfulness he will bring forth justice; Ok if we are to believe that we humans can no longed perform without being hooked up to the nines with microphones and cannot listen without precision audio speakers (though I do not believe any of us believes that) why should one voice dominate all our singing and hearing? If we believe in Body Ministry and that the anointing can fall on anyone why not have a roaming microphone during our gatherings? Becoming dependent, as we have, and focussing our attention to a high degree upon star worshippers we are, I suggest, missing out. If the Dancing Finger of God is moving around the congregation and the Spirit falling and moving various people perhaps the anointing to raise ones voice and bless God and the people is to be shared every time we gather. The 'one man leads all' approach suggests God only anoints that one man to worship Him of lead our songs, but friends, is this the case? Could we not risk having a teenage girl, a grandfather a single mother, a homeless believer come to a 'roaming' or 'static' mike to sing over us, with us and lead our songs, on occasion at least- if they believe the Spirit is moving them? With the appropriate accompaniment of our wonderful musicians or with no musical backing if it is appropriate? Perhaps if volume levels were to fall substantially all this could simply be achieved, without effort, in a beautiful harmonious congregational setting where one voice or many instruments do not dominate the sanctuary of God. This sanctuary is now 'us', clay pots, clay and not 'glossy shinny people' or the latest 'worship-star', the instruments or the sound systems. It is us, the jars of clay, or so i have heard it say, who best reveal his glory! 2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. Again this is meant to be a DISCUSSION - I do not claim to have the answer. Peace be with us, family of believers.
